Now that she’s growing up, it’s time to take her on some grown-up dates. She’ll be excited that you’re treating her like an adult, and you’ll be able toengage her in some adult conversation — like about what happens during puberty and what happened when you were her age.
Here are some great mother-daughter date ideas:
Get out in nature! Visit a national park, go on a hike or just picnic in the park.
Conversation goal: Let her know thather period is perfectly naturaland nothing to be ashamed of.
Get pampered! Get a massage, a mani-pedi or indulge in some retail therapy.
Conversation goal: Girls experience a loss of voice and self-esteem during puberty. Make sure shefeels beautiful inside and out.
Get dressed up! Dress up for an art gallery opening, an opera or a nice restaurant.
Conversation goal: Her body is maturing before she’s mature. She needs to practice behaving like an adult so she can be ready for adult situations.
Get together! You don’t have to go alone. Get together with another mom who has a daughter her age.
Conversation goal: Share stories about when you wereboth her age and turn the talk into girl talk.
